Stargate fans, it's time to start destroying the world!

I've updated the spreadsheet prepared last year by a completely spectacular set of volunteers, removing prompts that were written last year and adding in this year's prompts. I'm pretty sure I got them all, but if you can't find a prompt you left, please let me know.

To claim a prompt, find one you want and then leave a comment in the spreadsheet--something along the lines of "Claimed by"--that includes a username you use either here or at AO3.

If you have trouble leaving comments there, you can comment here with your prompt instead. Please copy and paste it exactly as it appears on the spreadsheet, and please include your AO3 username if you don't have an LJ or DW account.

But before you begin any prompt claiming, I recommend:

1. Reading the rules.

2. Taking a moment to look through the spreadsheet, which is well organized but rather massive. In particular, you may want to look under the first tab, "Explanation," and scroll down to "Our categories" to see all the existing tabs. (Note that not all of the tabs will be visible without clicking the arrows.)

Prompt claiming is first come, first served. Please check that no one else has claimed your prompt before requesting one.

You can find the spreadsheet here.

It's time to start destroying the world!

As you may have seen, we had a wonderful team of volunteers who put together a massive spreadsheet of the prompts from all past rounds of [livejournal.com profile] apocalypse_kree. I've added in the new prompts there, and we're going to use that this year for claiming.

To claim a prompt, find one you want and then leave a comment (something along the lines of Claimed!) that includes your user name here or at AO3.

If you have trouble leaving comments there, you can comment here with your prompt instead. Please copy and paste it exactly as it appears on the spreadsheet, and please include your AO3 username if you don't have an LJ account.

If you haven't already, please read the the rules before claiming a prompt.

Prompt claiming is first come, first served. Please check that no one else has claimed your prompt before requesting one.

You can find the spreadsheet here.

ETA: Per the comments, it's recommended that you look under the first tab "Explanation" and scroll down to "Our categories" to see all the existing tabs (since not all are visible without clicking the arrows).

You can find the Any and SG-1 prompts over here.

If you haven't already, please read the the rules before claiming a prompt.

Some of these prompts will look familiar while others are brand new. The prompts are sorted to the best of my ability and roughly in alphabetical order, but if you're looking for a particular character, search is your friend.

Prompt claiming is first come, first served. Please check that no one else has claimed your prompt before requesting one.

If you're claiming a current prompt, please post your claim on the post where it appears. If you're requesting an old prompt, please request it on the rules post.

The prompts this year have been broken into three posts because we managed to exceed the maximum post size with the number of prompts. (I applaud your enthusiasm, but if this runs again next year, I'll probably be limiting the number of prompts from each person.)

Rules for Claiming

1. Please reply to the post containing the prompt you want with your claim. If you're claiming a prompt from a previous year, please reply to this post. I'll strike prompts from the list as they're claimed, and reply to confirm. I'm going to limit claims to two prompts right now so that everyone has a shot at the prompts they want.

2. On November 30th, I'll start allowing people to claim additional prompts if they wish. There's no limit to the number of prompts you can claim, but you're encouraged to finish your first two stories before moving on to additional prompts.

3. Prompt claiming closes on January 15th.

4. Fic is due between January 16th and January 31st. You can post your fic here, or post elsewhere and post a link here. There are no minimum lengths for fic.

Other Notes

You may claim your own prompt if you wish.

You're free to exchange your prompt for a different one at any time. Please let me know on this post.

If you don't like any of the prompts here, you can claim an unused prompt from a previous year. If you do that, please comment on THIS POST with the year and the prompt. If you have an outstanding claim from a previous year, you're welcome to write that this year.

You're not required to tell me if you're not going to finish your story, but if you know early on that you won't finish, I'd appreciate it if you'd let me know so that I can release your prompt back into the wild. You can leave a comment here, or on the rules post where comments are screened, or you can PM or email me.

Please try to abide by the prompters stated preferences regarding gen or pairings. If the prompt is ambiguous, then you're free to interpret it as you wish.

You can find the Any and SG1 prompts here and the SGA, SGU, and crossover prompts here.

I'm so sorry this is late. They have us on extended hours at work, and my weekends have been super-busy. But it's here at last--thanks in large part to the fabulous [livejournal.com profile] colls--so please feel free to go forth and claim prompts! But be warned--my current hours mean that I'll only have a few minutes per day to cross off claimed prompts. Thus I strongly recommend you read the comments before claiming a prompt, to make sure your chosen prompt hasn't already been claimed.

Have fun! I can't await to see what you all make.

Prompt claiming is now closed! However, if you see a prompt you really want to use, you're welcome to claim it when we run again in 2012.

Rules for Claiming

1. The initial claim period will run from August 1st to August 14th. During that time, each writer will be allowed to claim one prompt.

2. Reply to this post with the prompt you want. I'll strike it off the list and confirm that it's yours. There's only one writer per prompt and it's first come, first served, so you may want to take a look at the comments above yours to make sure your prompt hasn't been claimed before you ask for it.

3. After the initial claim period is over, I'll start allowing writers to claim additional prompts. There's no actual limit on the number of prompts you can claim, but you're encouraged to finish your current story before claiming a second (or third or fourth) prompt.

4. Fic is due between September 20th and September 30th. Each writer will post their own fic.

5. Writers may continue to claim prompts (including claiming a first prompt) until the end of the posting period. If you're stuck, you're also welcome to exchange your prompt for another until the end of the posting period.

6. If you don't like any of the prompts here, you can claim an unused prompt from the 2007 or 2008 lists. If you do that, please comment on THIS POST with the year and the prompt. If you have an outstanding claim from a previous year, you're welcome to write that this year.

7. You're not required to tell me if you're not going to finish your story, but if you know early on that you won't finish, I'd appreciate it if you'd let me know so that I can release your prompt back into the wild. You can leave a comment here, or on the rules post where comments are screened, or you can PM or email me.

8. You may claim your own prompt if you wish. There is no minimum length for fic.

A note to writers: The prompts are a starting point, not the end all and be all of your story. You're welcome to include additional characters, and to be creative in your interpretation of your prompt as long as your story fits the general theme of the challenge.

The rules for claiming:

1- You may claim one prompt, and there is only one writer to a prompt.
eta: 1a- If you haven't finished your prompt from last year and you wish to sign up to finish that, just reply to this post and tell me. You'll then be subject to the same rules as everyone else. And maybe you'll get your soul-bit back. ;)

2- The first person to post asking for a specific prompt will get that prompt. Comments will NOT be screened so it will all be visible. I will confirm your claim by replying to your comment so you know. (I have to work so don't worry if it's several hours before I reply. If you're first to comment, you WILL get that prompt.)

2a. I will strike out each prompt as it is claimed.

3- Initial claim period will run for two weeks, until August 14. You can start writing anytime after receiving confirmation that your claim has been accepted.

4- Any writer can enter the ficathon at any time and claim and write an unclaimed prompt, as long as you finish the story by the due date. (September 20 - 30.)

5- If--after the initial claim period has ended-- you get stuck and just cannot write your prompt, you may turn it in and ask for another, unclaimed, prompt. You can reply here to turn in an old prompt and choose a new one.

6- You may choose and write a second prompt if you wish and you've finished your first already.

7- If you just cannot complete your prompt and do not want to write at all, you can let me know--and forfeit your soul-bits--in this post.

Reminder to those who submitted prompts: it's up to the writer to interpret your prompt and go where their muse takes them. The story may not be exactly what you were thinking of when you submitted the prompt, but that's the chance you take in a ficathon. We all know that writing is never that organized and tame. ;)

Note: I had to sort of guess with some prompts as to where they fit in, as the person did not really specify. Single-character prompts were mostly put into the Gen category. If you really wanted something different done with your prompt, let me know, and if it is still unclaimed, I will correct it.

I recycled a few good unclaimed prompts from the last ficathon, especially in places where I felt we needed more choices.

eta2: Although I brought over a few prompts from last year, there's still a whole list of unclaimed prompts HERE. If you want to write and none of the new prompts do it for you, give these a try. It's all about getting more fic written. Just tell me your choice and that it's from the 2007 list.
